Accessibility depends on more than the unit itself. The ground it sits on, the path leading to it, the slope at the door and the space around it all affect whether a guest can use it comfortably. Requirements can also differ by event type and by who is organizing. For those reasons, we do not label any unit as meeting a particular standard on this website.
If your event has a specific accessibility requirement, tell us what it is, and confirm with us whether the particular unit and your placement spot meet it. Organizers of public events should also check with the relevant local authority.
Site questions to think through
A few questions help make an accessible unit genuinely usable on the day.
- Is the placement spot level and firm, not soft grass or gravel after rain?
- Is the path from seating to the unit smooth and free of curbs, cords or steps?
- Is there clear room in front of the door?
- Will the path be lit if the event runs after dark?
- Is the unit close to where guests who need it will spend their time?
Adding handwashing nearby
If you add a handwashing station, think about placing it where it can be reached easily from the accessible unit. Ask us about the options and how they would sit on your site.
